J.K. Rowling receives threatening letters after supporting her colleague.

J.K. Rowling began to receive threats after she posted a message about the attack on Rushdie on a social network. As you know, for many years he was threatened with death. The Kashmiri-born British author of The Satanic Verses is famous for living under 24-hour security for decades. His creation was considered blasphemous by many Muslims, and in 1989 Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa calling for Rushdie’s assassination. In the early 2000s, London received tacit guarantees of the writer’s safety from Tehran, and most of the security was removed.
The Harry Potter author has admitted that the shocking news of Rushdie’s assassination made her feel ‘very sick’. The threatening reply didn’t linger: “Don’t worry, you’re next.” Scottish police believe the tweet came from Pakistan. There is an investigation.
This is not the first time the writer has been threatened. Last November, Harry Potter creator JK Rowling revealed on Twitter that her inbox was inundated with threatening letters from transgender people. A few days earlier, community activists had posted a photo outside the writer’s home in Edinburgh showing a sign with an address, sparking an endless string of scary emails.
JK Rowling has previously been accused of allegedly insulting Jews in her Potter writings.
