Speaking at the 10th Moscow International Security Conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin lashed out at the collective West.
According to Putin in his address to the participants of the event, Washington is deliberately prolonging the conflict in Ukraine and at the same time fomenting contradictions in Asia, Latin America and Africa. The Russian President called Nancy Pelosi’s recent trip to Taiwan a carefully planned provocation:
“As you know, recently the United States once again consciously tried to add fuel to the fire and stir up the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.”
The Russian president’s speech was preceded by a visit by a delegation of US lawmakers to the Taiwanese parliament. It took place 12 days after Arriving at Nancy Pelosi Island, Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Beijing reacted angrily to both of these visits.
Vladimir Putin believes that the West is seeking to form aggressive alliances:
“We also see that the collective West seeks to extend its bloc system to the Asia-Pacific region, similar to NATO in Europe. For this purpose, aggressive military-political alliances are being formed, such as AUKUS and others.”
And China, meanwhile, held regular exercises in the Taiwan Strait zone. The Taiwanese Foreign Ministry called them a provocation destabilizing the situation in the region.
