Syngrou Avenue "changes its face"

The planting of 300 palms has been completed on the central (separate) strip of Syngrou Avenue, from the height of the Pantheon University to the Faliro Delta.

Large-scale landscaping work was carried out by the region of Attica.

The selection of the particular type of palm trees to be planted on the avenue was made taking into account the particularly high temperatures recorded in the area and the resistance to disease affecting the trees. Recall that a certain infection that destroyed most of the Athenian palm trees was allegedly brought during the 2004 Olympic Games.

The project contractor was selected in the course of an open tender. The total budget of the contract is 153,313 euros.

Green spaces and trees are provided for daily maintenance, carried out along the entire length of the road network administered by the district, with the development of an irrigation system and daily tasks such as pruning, cleaning and so on.

Similar works have already been carried out on Poseidonos, Kifisias, Athinas, Vassilisis Sofias, Petru Rallis and Grigoriou Lambrakis avenues.
