A Greek village that seems to float on water and is ideal for a budget holiday by car is waiting for you.
This is a cape in Aetoloakarnania, which is located between Astakos and Vonitsa and looks like it is “cutting” the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea.
Μύτικα Αιτωλοακαρνανίας is not a well-known and popular place. However, the landscapes that open to the gaze of the traveler are capable of evoking stormy delight in the heart.
Here you can spend a fairly inexpensive vacation, as the cape is not included in the list of “hot destinations” of the season. This is a sparsely populated place where you can enjoy nature and silence. At the 2011 census, the area had only 759 permanent residents.
This place has rich vegetation, beautiful beaches, picturesque streets, well-preserved mansions (the Roman building in Akrotiri is worth seeing), as well as a picturesque small harbor for fishing and pleasure boats. It is worth trying local specialties: taramosalata and exquisite cheese products of the region. At the same time, you definitely should not lose sight of dishes from freshly caught fresh fish.
By choosing to visit Μύτικα Αιτωλοακαρνανίας, you will be away from the inconvenience and costs (in terms of traveling by ferry), and you will also be able to plan your trip as you wish, regardless of any kind of transport (and the need buy tickets for it, and then languish in the crowd up to the destination).
But if you don’t want to miss out on the island experience, Kalamos Lefkada, right in front of the cape, is the place to be for a day trip. You can simply take one of the boats from the port and in about half an hour you will be in Kalamos where you can comfortably swim and enjoy your meal in one of the few taverns on the island. In the late afternoon, you will set off on your return journey, spending less than 2 euros in total.
