The Eni-Total consortium has discovered a large natural gas field in the sixth block of the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus, the Cypriot newspaper reports today “Αλήθεια“(Truth).
However, the Cyprus Ministry of Energy, in a statement today, notes that drilling at the Kronos-1 facility in Block 6 of the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone continues and there is nothing to announce at this stage.
That is, it does not deny or confirm this, which means that the newspaper had good reasons for making such a statement, but it is no less logical for Nicosia to wait for the results and assessments before making any statements.
Moreover, according to “Αλήθεια”, there are additional positive signs of the presence of a second gas field adjacent to the already discovered one.
The Cypriot Ministry of Energy said the drilling, which is being carried out by the consortium Eni Cyprus Limited and TotalEnergies EP Cyprus BV, which owns the hydrocarbon exploration license for the block, is scheduled to be completed within the next few weeks.
Recall that drilling work began on 23/5/2022 from the vessel “Tungsten Explorer” and is under constant supervision of the Hydrocarbon Agency of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry of Cyprus.
