Which islands "flooded" tourists this summer

In July, an increase in tourist arrivals to the islands of the South Aegean Sea was recorded. Where are the highest rates?

In July alone, the number of direct international arrivals exceeded one million, up 20% from the July record of 2019. The growth rate per international airport is 13% for Rhodes, 8% for Kos, 31% for Mykonos and 65% for Santorini.

In July, there were days unprecedented for international airports in the South Aegean, which received a record number of visitors. For example, the Diagoras airport in Rhodes received about 40,000 international passengers during the weekend, which is peak, without any special problems, reports pelop.gr.

There was a day at Kos airport when more than 10,000 visitors from abroad were served, while the smaller airports of Mykonos and Santorini served more than 6,000 and 7,000 people respectively.

Since the beginning of the season, the tourist destinations of the South Aegean region have been recording an upward growth trend. The average arrival rate from March 27 to the end of July “broken” the record of 2019 by 13%.

Until July 31, the Cyclades and Dodecanese were visited by more than 3 million visitors from abroad, which is approximately equal to the number of arrivals at the airports of the South Aegean during the entire tourist season last year.
