In Trikala, scammers managed to “extract” more than 15 thousand euros from an elderly couple, posing as employees ΔΕΗ.
According to information trikalavoice, on Tuesday 2 August, there was a knock at the door of a house in the village of Pili municipality in Trikala. Fraudsters, posing as ΔΕΗ employees, convinced an elderly couple living there to pay more than 15,000 euros in cash.
According to the newspaper, this type of fraud is becoming common. The police are investigating the incident and are searching for the perpetrators.
Our publication told how at the end of June there was liquidated a criminal organization whose members committed fraud, theft and robbery against the elderly in Attica. Police arrested six people, including the ringleader, during a June 30 police operation in the Achaia and Attica regions. A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees on the fact that they committed crimes.
And in February, fake doctors who called an elderly resident of Patras managed to deceive her, receiving a total of 20,000 euros. In a telephone conversation that the criminals had with the old woman, under the pretext that her daughter needed an urgent operation, they managed to persuade her to hand over to them a large sum of money.
