Tragedy in Kalivakia: a woman died from a wasp sting

A 64-year-old woman died in Kalivakia Makrision after being bitten by a wasp.

According to ilia.news, an elderly lady found a hornet’s nest in her garden, which she tried to destroy. However, in doing so, she was attacked by a swarm of angry wasps and received multiple stings.

She reportedly suffered allergic shock and died before the police and EKAB ambulance arrived on the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital, but it was too late, the doctors pronounced her dead.

As previously reported by Athens News, a similar tragedy happened in the village of Arta: a man was stung by a wasp, after which he died. A 67-year-old local resident was on the estate and was working in the garden. At some point, he suddenly felt an insect bite and, knowing that he was allergic, immediately called an ambulance.
