The municipalities of Aristotle, Halkidiki and San Sebastian (Spain) are starting cooperation with the leading points in the field of tourism and culture after the visit of a Greek delegation to the Basque country.
The visit was organized with the assistance of the Greek Embassy in Madrid as part of the strategic planning of the Municipality of Aristotle to approach the Spanish and Hispanic tourism market, with a focus on sightseeing tourism, as well as wine and gastronomy.
As it became known, in October next year, a delegation from the municipality of Donostia-San Sebastian will visit the ancient Stagira, accompanied by Basque travel agents.
Bilateral cooperation is based on common elements between the two regions in the field of gastronomy, proposals for alternative tourism (hiking, diving and sailing), as well as thematic routes, for example, Mount Athos and Stagira (birthplace of Aristotle).
Mayor Aristotelis Stelios Valianos described the agreement between the two regions as historic because, in his words, “The Iberian Peninsula, like all Spanish-speaking tourism markets around the world, are the main targets of the Municipality of Aristotelis in its efforts to develop tourism in the region.”
