The man was found in his truck with a noose around his neck. He was originally from Tripoli, had no children and was in a relationship with a girl.
Apparently, the fatal step was made by a 47-year-old truck driver whose body was found yesterday morning in the cab of his pickup truck at the Rentis vegetable market. The professional driver allegedly parked his car in the Central Green Market car park on Kennedy Street since Thursday evening.
At some point, and for as yet unknown reason, the man decided to commit suicide and threw a tie around his neck. The driver died of asphyxiation, and his body remained in the driver’s seat until yesterday morning, when two of his colleagues found him.
The security service went to the scene and searched the cab and the bottom of the truck. A police investigation found no evidence of criminal activity, which was later confirmed by a medical examiner who examined the body.
The first conclusions of the forensic medical examination indicate suicide. The conclusion of the pathologists will be presented on Monday, August 1, after the autopsy.
