A police officer was arrested yesterday on the most serious charge, the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
According to the Police Internal Affairs Service, the man was detained yesterday afternoon, Friday, July 29, 2022, on the basis of an arrest warrant. The police officer is accused of sexual acts with minors who have reached the age of 12, sexual abuse of minors and the creation of pornographic products.
The girl and her parents filed a complaint, according to which a police officer, using his status as a volleyball coach in a sports club on the island, had repeated sexual acts with a minor since at least January 2022. In addition, he “lit up” in social networks, systematically luring children into the production of pornography.
A criminal case was initiated on the facts, in connection with which an examination by a forensic expert was scheduled for the minor. During the preliminary investigation, it turned out that the police officer committed illegal acts of a sexual nature against another girl.
Searches followed in his home and vehicles, where a large amount of digital evidence was found and seized – mobile phones, computers, camcorders, tablets, digital media, etc., filled with child pornography.
The case materials were transferred to the competent prosecutor’s office, after which an investigation took place and a warrant was issued, on the basis of which the police officer was arrested.
