Greek Statistical Office ΕΛΣΤΑΤ estimates the country’s unemployment rate in May 2022 at 12.5% and the number of unemployed at 596,056. In the same month a year ago, there were 998,322 unemployed registered in the ΟΑΕΔ.
According to ΕΛΣΤΑΤ, unemployment fell to 12.5% in May from 15.6% in May 2021, also compared to April 2022, estimated at 12.6%.
According to ΕΛΣΤΑΤ, the number of employees was 4,170,361, which is 228,355 more than in May 2021 (+5.8%) and 53,362 more than in April 2022 (+1.3% ).
The number of citizens under the age of 75 who are not part of the labor force, that is, people who are not working and not looking for work, amounted to 3,067,657 people, which is 127,661 people less compared to May 2021 (-4.0% ) and by 60,520 people compared to April 2022 (-1.9%).
