Inexpensive vacation 1.5 hours from Athens

Since holidays are becoming a dream for most Greeks, many of us still want to get out of the city, at least for a short period of time – for the weekend. And most importantly, cheap.

We want to talk about one destination that is a first-class choice for anyone looking for a few days of peace, with cheap hotels and food, near Athens.

Antikyra is a seaside village in the prefecture of Viotia, which is just over 1.5 hours drive from the capital of Greece. Its proximity to Athens also means lower fuel costs, and the fact that the place is still unknown to many means that prices for accommodation and food are much lower than in popular places that are usually filled with crowds of holidaymakers. As an example, we note that, having called the most famous hotels in the village, we found double rooms from 30 to 60 euros (for an overnight stay) even in August.

The village of Antikyra is located 16 kilometers from Desfina, which is known for its beautiful beaches and also has a particularly picturesque port. It is a lovely fishing village with spectacular beaches such as Agios Isidoros and the view from its highest points (Profitis Ilias, Kefali, Pharos), with beautiful churches and lush green vegetation, is simply unforgettable.
