Citizens’ Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos announced during an appearance on SKAI television on Thursday that the validity of Greek passports will be doubled to 10 years.
In an interview with Skai TV, the minister noted that Greece is one of the few countries EU and the world, whose passports are valid for only five years.
He added that the measure submitted by the ministry to Parliament would eliminate significant financial and administrative costs. “The bureaucracy has decreased for Greek citizens and especially for Greeks abroad. This will greatly reduce the burden on the police. This is a situation that will benefit both the state and the citizens of Greece… a great convenience for the citizens and the Greek police,” he said.
