Metropolitan of Glyfada: "I didn’t know what the archbishop of America would do"

Archbishop Antonios of Glyfada has expressed his position on the baptism of the two children of a same-sex couple – world-famous designer Peter Dundas and his partner Evangelos Busis – in the Church of Panagia Faneromeni in Vouliagmeni.

In his letter, published on, the metropolitan says he knew nothing and was not informed about the intentions of the archbishop of America, whom he accuses in a letter to the Holy Synod of misconduct in his diocese, writes

The Metropolitan of Glyfada indicates that he is sending the letter “because of the uproar” and says that he was not informed of the intentions of Archbishop Elpidophoros, because “His Eminence from America asked me in writing for permission to celebrate the baptism of two children of the Bussis expatriate family who came from Chicago. I didn’t know what the archbishop of America would do.”

Metropolitan Anthony claims that he did not know about what happened and did not communicate with Archbishop Elpidophoros either before or after baptismand was also not present in the church at the time of baptism.
