Greece: worse weather from today

From today, a special bulletin ΕΜΥ operates in Greece. Where extreme weather events are expected – heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning, hail.

Mostly aggression of nature will be observed in central and northern Greece, and will last until Saturday 9 July.

Today, 08-07-2022, heavy rains and thunderstorms are predicted in the morning in the northern part of the Ionian Sea, Epirus, they will gradually spread to western and central Macedonia, and are expected in Thessaly from the afternoon. In the evening, the phenomena will weaken in the west, and on the night of Friday to Saturday they will spread to eastern Macedonia, the northern islands of the Aegean, the Sporades, eastern Sterea and Evia.

On Saturday, bad weather is expected in central and eastern Macedonia, on the islands of the northern Aegean, in Thessaly, Sporades, eastern Sterea and Evia, and in the afternoon and evening they will affect the entire mainland of Greece. By evening, a gradual decline in all phenomena is expected.

The air temperature on Saturday, 09-07-2022, will drop in the central and northern regions by about 4-6 degrees, and will not exceed 23-26°С in the north and 26-28°С in the central regions.

Meteorologist Clearchos Marousakis warns of deteriorating weather in a number of areas: “We are exercising the necessary caution.”

In Attica in the late afternoon, rain and thunderstorms in the west and north of the prefecture. Wind 4-5 on the Beaufort scale, late evening temperature in the city center 32-33°C.

In Thessaloniki, the day starts with mild weather, but it will gradually begin to rain and thunderstorms. Temperature from 21-28°С.

ATTICA

Weather: a little cloudy in the morning, local rains and occasional thunderstorms are possible from noon.

North wind, force 3-4, from the second half of the day the direction is changeable, with the same intensity.

Temperature from 20°С to 33°С.

THESSALONIKI

Weather: partly cloudy, local rains, thunderstorms in some places. In some places the phenomena will be strong.

The wind is variable, 3-4 points on the Beaufort scale, by the evening it will intensify to 5 points.

Air temperature from 20°С to 29°С.

MACEDONIA, THRACY

Weather: Cloudy with occasional showers and thunderstorms. From noon in western and central Macedonia, the phenomena of bad weather will be strong.

East wind, from 3 to 5 points.

Temperature from 18°С to 31°С.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIRUS, WESTERN STEREA, WESTERN PELOPONNESE

Weather: Rapidly increasing cloudiness with local showers and occasional thunderstorms, heavy in the north of the Ionian Peninsula and in Epirus. By evening, the phenomena will become less intense.

Wind south / southeast from 3 to 5 points. Afternoon northwest, 5 to 6 on the Beaufort scale.

Temperature: 19-31°C.

THESSALIA, EAST STEREA, EAST PELOPONNESE

Weather: clear in the morning, cloudiness will gradually increase, and local showers and occasional thunderstorms are expected from noon. In Thessaly, from the second half of the day, the phenomena will be strong in places.

North wind, from 3 to 5 points, from the second half of the day south.

Temperature from 18°С to 33°С.

CYCLADES, CRETE.

Weather: clear, few clouds in the afternoon.

Wind north / northwest, from 4 to 6 points, from the second half of the day its strength will decrease.

Temperature from 21 to 31°C.

EASTERN AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANES

Weather: it is clear in the morning on the northern islands of the Aegean Sea, clouds will gradually appear, and in the evening local showers and sometimes thunderstorms will begin on the northernmost islands. The Dodecanese has almost good weather.

Wind north / northwest, from 4 to 6 points.

Temperature 22-32°C.

Evia

Weather: Slightly cloudy with a chance of local showers and thunderstorms from noon.

North wind from 3 to 5 points.

Temperature 20-33°C.

Saturday 9 July:

In Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus, the Ionian Sea, Thessaly, Sterea, Peloponnese, Sporades, the northern part of the Aegean Sea and Crete, local cloudiness, sometimes with local showers and places of thunderstorms, mainly on the mainland, in the noon and afternoon hours. Phenomena on the mainland, Evia, Sporades and the islands of the northern Aegean will be strong. The rest of the region is slightly cloudy.

North wind, in the west from 4 to 6 points, in the northern part of the Ionian Sea in some places up to 7 points on the Beaufort scale, in the Aegean Sea from 5 to 6 points, in places in the central and northern regions up to 7 points on the Beaufort scale.

The temperature will decrease mainly in the north, where it will reach 23-26°C, in the rest of the mainland – 26-28°C, and in the island country – 29-31°C, reports newsbeast.gr.
