More than $14 billion needed to restore Mariupol alone

The mayor of Mariupol, Vadim Boychenko, claims that the restoration of the destroyed Mariupol will cost more than $14 billion. And it will take at least 7-10 years to rebuild the city.

It is reported in Telegram Mariupol city ​​Council. According to the mayor, 1356 high-rise buildings and 40% of private houses were destroyed or damaged in the city. Most of them are not subject to reconstruction. According to preliminary estimates of experts, the cost of restoring infrastructure for 220,000 people will be more than $14 billion. The final figure, as emphasized, will be known in the course of assessing the destroyed houses after the de-occupation.

The Mayor of Mariupol says that the European Investment Bank and large Ukrainian businesses have already declared their readiness to help restore Mariupol. The city authorities are collaborating with various experts from the cities destroyed during the Second World War – Warsaw, Gdansk, Dresden, Rotterdam – and studying their experience in rebuilding.

Earlier, the mayor of Mariupol, Vadim Boychenko, said that the invaders, under the guise of housing, are building fortifications in the city, because they are preparing for a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

She announced her intention to help Ukraine restore the destroyed Greece. Nikos Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, took part in the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine last Monday. He represented Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
