Activists from the environmental movement Ocean Rebellion organized a protest to mark the opening of the long-delayed UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon.
“Dead mermaids caught in fishing nets” lay down on the shore – such “news from the sea” is designed to influence world leaders to take early action aimed at saving life in the ocean, reports euronews.
“In the time that I live, life in the ocean has become 50% poorer,” says one of the activists. “Therefore, we need to act urgently.
