Today, July 4, an emergency meeting of experts is being held due to an increase in cases of coronavirus. In Greece, as in all of Europe, Omicron and the BA4 and BA5 variants predominate.
Experts note that in the age group of 18-24 years there is an increase in the number of new cases. This mainly concerns tourist areas, growth has been recorded over the past three weeks. The increase in re-infections is also recorded weekly, however, during hospitalization, simple beds are occupied, and this is encouraging for doctors.
At the moment, the increase in the number of cases does not lead to a large number of people admitted to intensive care units and to an excessive increase in deaths.
Experts note that in Europe there is a constant increase in new cases in all central, southern and northern countries of the continent. The number of cases among people over 65 years of age is steadily increasing, but the number of hospitalizations is within the normal range and new intubations remain low in most European countries.
