In Bulgaria, destroyed a sea mine that sailed to the coast

The Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria announced the destruction by controlled detonation of a sea mine in the coastal zone.

Military experts, as stated on July 1 by the country’s Ministry of Defense, noted the combat state of the device and classified it as a Soviet-made YaM-type anchor mine.

The floating mine was reported by the civilian vessel Monterrey. A helicopter, a minesweeper and auxiliary ships went in search of a dangerous object. It was discovered 27 nautical miles from the mouth of the Kamchiya River, which flows into the Black Sea near Varna. The mine was destroyed by controlled detonation.

In the Black Sea, experts say, there are up to 600 Russian mines. Periodically, they break anchors and spontaneously drift off the coast of Turkey, Ukraine, and Bulgaria. After the storm, five mines had previously brought to the coast of Odessa.

Russia insists that Ukraine placed the mines. Earlier, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) issued a statement in which warnedthat sea mines laid by the Ukrainian Navy on the outskirts of their Black Sea ports can enter the Mediterranean Sea through the Bosphorus.
