On the night of July 1, three X-22 missiles from Tu-22 bombers carried out missile attacks on the Odessa region, which killed 20 people, including a child, and many were wounded. People are still under the rubble.

“As a result of a night missile attack by Tu-22 strategic aircraft from the Black Sea on the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district of the Odessa region, three Kh-22 missiles hit an apartment building and two recreation centers.”
According to the Rescue Service (GSChS), as a result of a Russian missile strike on July 1 in the village of Sergeevka, Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district, Odessa region, 20 people were killed: 16 people died in a residential building, and four more at a recreation center. 38 people were injured, 37 of them lived in the affected nine-story building. Among the wounded are 6 children, all of them in the hospital. 8 people were rescued from the rubble, including three children and a pregnant woman. Rescue work continues. During a missile attack on the Odessa region, a children’s rehabilitation center of Moldova was damaged, reports “European Truth”. The children’s center in the village of Sergeevka is intended for children from Moldova with health problems who could relax and receive qualified assistance on the Black Sea coast, said Alla Nemerenko, Minister of Health of Moldova, on Facebook. One of his employees was killed, five were injured. The minister noted that since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the center has not worked, and there were few people in it. The victims were in one of the buildings most affected by the shelling. She says:
“It was a renovated center with good conditions. We were preparing to open it after the pandemic, but the war came. And these peaceful people, they made the rest of the children better, selflessly and lovingly engaged in their rehabilitation. We wish them all a speedy recovery and sympathize with the family of the deceased .There is nothing worse than war.”
In the Odessa region on July 2 announced Happy mourning for those who died as a result of Russian missile strikes on the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky region on July 1, the mayor’s office of Odessa reports:
“In connection with the tragedy that occurred due to a nighttime missile attack by Russian strategic aircraft in the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district of the Odessa region and led to the death of people, July 2 was declared a day of mourning for the dead in the region.”
The Kremlin reacted to the shelling of the Odessa region traditionally – the Russian army does not shoot at residential facilities. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov habitually speaks, quotes “Interfax”: “I want to remind you once again the words of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation that the armed forces of the Russian Federation do not work on civilian targets and civilian infrastructure during a special military operation.”
Peskov continued to assert that the Russian military allegedly “works at warehouses of military ammunition, at enterprises where military equipment is prepared and repaired, ammunition is stored, places of concentration, training and education of mercenaries, including foreign ones, and nationalist elements.” For other details, he advised to contact the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, the Russian president, commenting on the strike on a shopping center in Kremenchug, said:
“Yes, there is no terrorist attack there. I know, and we have said this many times, we have shown it, you can see from drones when they place weapons, MLRS systems, artillery, heavy equipment in general in residential areas, somewhere else. Just like that” in the fields “No one shoots here. As a rule, this is done based on the results of reconnoitered targets. I am sure that in this case everything was the same. Well, they hide the equipment that the West especially delivers to all sorts of hangars, markets, factories, workshops where equipment is being repaired, or where they are put in order after a long period of distillation from the same abroad. The Russian army does not strike at any civilian targets.”
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine stressed that there are no military facilities near the destroyed residential building and recreation center in Sergeevka.
