Pelion: the priest beat the priest and broke everything in the house

Nothing human is alien to the Greek priests, unfortunately, the same applies to domestic violence. The arrest of a priest for domestic violence caused shock in the local community of the town of Pelion in the Peloponnese.

Greek edition taxidromosciting the police, reports that duty officers on Monday afternoon handcuffed a priest working in the church of Pelion for an episode of domestic violence.

The priest was detained at the police station, and a case was initiated against him after a brawl that he made in his house when he had a fight with his wife, because of which the frightened priest called the number “100*”. The priest broke all the furniture and smashed everything he could in the house.

According to media reports, the enraged priest smashed everything he could, after which his wife called the police in a panic. The police officers, who arrived at the call, opened a criminal case as part of the domestic violence proceedings.

It is noted that the victim was frightened. In the past, she was repeatedly subjected to physical violence, as she had signs of beatings.

Metropolis Demitriados (Ιερά Μητρόπολη Δημητριάδος) condemned domestic violence, and its priests, in the context of communicating with believers, always advise women not to endure psychological, verbal, physical violence.

The police continue to investigate.
