In a related statement, the Hellenic Ministry of Health noted that “in relation to the population under the age of 60, the National Vaccination Committee indicates that currently there is insufficient scientific evidence on the added benefit of a second booster dose of the vaccine. However, it is recommended that they give them a second booster dose if they so desire.”

As they wrote “Athenian News”, a statement by the Greek health authorities caused scandal and confusion the previous Thursday when they announced that people over the age of 30 could be given the 4th dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. First, the vaccination committee announced its decision allow 4th dose for persons aged 30-59 years. However, in statement there was also a “small bomb”: “There is currently insufficient scientific evidence on the additional benefit of a second booster with existing vaccines.“.

The immediate reaction of everyone who read the statement was: if the scientific evidence is not enough, then why should people receive the 4th dose? Journalist, news release Mega Live News, said live that those who wrote this statement should be “ashamed” and asked “isn’t the purpose of the 4th dose for people aged 30-59 years old to enrich the pharmaceutical companies?”.
