Oktay said on Thursday that “Turkey will challenge the sovereignty of the Greek islands if they do not demilitarize.” This is the “… eleventh” warning from Ankara over the past few weeks.

“The European Council expressed deep concern over the recent repeated actions and statements of Turkey. It must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all member states EU. Referring to its previous findings and the statement of 25 March 2021, the European Council expects Turkey to fully comply with international law, de-escalation for regional stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and sustainable development of good neighborly relations“.
