ΕΛΣΤΑΤ: imports from Russia up 103%, Greek exports down

Both imports and exports between Greece and Ukraine decreased in 2022. At the same time, Greek imports from Russia jumped amid unprecedented increases in energy prices in recent months, according to data ΕΛΣΤΑΤ.

In April 2022, the indicator Greek imports from Russia amounted to 491.8 million euros, an increase of 103.9% compared to April 2021 (241.1 million euros).

The volume of exports from Greece to Russia in financial terms in April 2022 amounted to 7.7 million euros, which is 49.9% less than in April 2021, when it was 15.5 million euros. The trade balance of Greece and Russia in April 2022 was negative and amounted to EUR 484.0 million (deficit).

Between January and April 2022, Greek imports from Russia amounted to EUR 2,189.5 million, an increase of 125.0% compared to the same period in 2021 (EUR 973.2 million).

Exports from Greece to Russia in the period from January to April 2022 amounted to 42.0 million euros, which is 25.2% less than in the same period in 2021 (56.1 million euros). The trade balance between Greece and Russia between January and April 2022 was negative at EUR 2,147.6 million (deficit).

In 2021, 656 Greek companies imported from Russia and 639 Greek companies exported to Russia.

The total volume of Greek imports from Russia in 2021 amounted to 4302.4 million euros, an increase of 46.7% compared to the corresponding data for 2020 (2933.4 million euros).

The total volume of exports from Greece to Russia in 2021 amounted to 206.6 million euros, an increase of 28.0% compared to the corresponding figure for 2020 (161.4 million euros).

The trade balance of Greece with Russia in 2021 was negative and amounted to 4095.8 million euros (deficit).

Greek-Ukrainian trade

In April 2022, the total value of Greek imports from Ukraine amounted to 3.2 million euros, which is 85.2% less than in April 2021 (21.3 million euros).

The total value of Greek exports to Ukraine in April 2022 amounted to 5.6 million euros, which is 83.5% less than in April 2021 (34.0 million euros). The trade balance of Greece and Ukraine in April 2022 was positive and amounted to 2.4 million euros (surplus).

In the period from January to April 2022, the value of Greek imports from Ukraine amounted to 57.4 million euros, recording a decrease of 7.3% compared to the period January-April 2021 (61.9 million euros).

The value of Greek exports to Ukraine in the period from January to April 2022 amounted to 29.8 million euros, which is 47.7% less than in the same period in 2021 (57.0 million euros). The trade balance of Greece-Ukraine in the period January-April 2022 was negative and amounted to 27.6 million euros (deficit).

In 2021, 494 Greek companies imported from Ukraine and 581 Greek companies exported to Ukraine.

The total value of Greek imports from Ukraine in 2021 amounted to 198.4 million euros, an increase of 10.8% compared to the corresponding figure for 2020 (179.0 million euros).

The total value of Greece’s exports to Ukraine in 2021 amounted to 338.8 million euros, an increase of 74.9% compared to 2020 – 193.7 million euros.

The trade balance of Greece with Ukraine in 2021 was positive and amounted to 140.4 million euros (surplus).
