In honor of the Day of Russia, festive events were held in four cities of Cyprus yesterday, and a fifty-meter flag of the Russian Federation was carried through the center of the capital.
According to the publication RIA News in the Russian House in Nicosia, Russia Day was celebrated in Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca and in the capital of Cyprus. A motor rally with state symbols was held in the cities, in which several dozen cars took part:
“At the end of the rally, its participants for the first time in the history of Cyprus carried a 50-meter flag of Russia through the central streets of the capital.”
The Russian House noted that the procession ended on Eleftherias Square, where a rally in support of Russia took place:
“The square was filled with the flags of Russia, Cyprus, Greece, Moldova, Belarus and other countries where the people support Russia. More than two thousand people gathered on the square were holding and chanting slogans in support of Russia.”
Andrey Panyukhov, Counsellor-Envoy of the Embassy in Cyprus, delivered a welcoming speech. After the official part, a concert of Russian and Cypriot musicians took place on the square. The organizers of the event also took care of the fair, where Russian cuisine, drinks, gifts, patriotic paraphernalia were presented.
