Videos released on June 7 from the Syrian front show Russian army units advancing towards the northeastern tip of Syria in Al-Hasakah. These actions are carried out a few hours after the call from the commander of the SDF group.
The commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazlum Abdi, said yesterday on Reuters about the intention of his forces to coordinate with the Syrian government in order to counter Ankara’s threats to launch a military operation in northern Syria.
The video with the movement of Russian forces shows at least two Pantsir-S1 installations, which are widely used on the Ukrainian front against Turkish unmanned aircraft, with the necessary modifications.
It is not clear from the video whether this is the version with a built-in new-generation radar, which accounted for dozens of downed Bayraktars in the war in Ukraine. However, the deployment of such weapons systems in a region that also covers part of Iraqi Kurdistan due to the Turkish invasion shows that the Russians do not want the Turks to go any further than they have already gone.
