Major police operation in downtown Athens, 12 arrested

Late last night, June 8, 12 people were arrested in the center of the Greek capital – members of a gang that committed burglaries.

A major operation to eliminate the gang was carried out by the Department of Property Crimes of the Attica Security Directorate. Dozens of burglaries were committed by its members, mostly in central Athens, reports cnn.gr.

According to ΕΛ.ΑΣ., in the course of the investigation, dozens of cases of theft were uncovered. Stolen items, vehicles, weapons were confiscated from the criminals. After the operation is completed, the Greek police promise to provide detailed information at a briefing.

As our publication reported in early January, in the southern suburbs of Athens Kallithea detained eight members of a dangerous gang, all underage. However, age did not prevent them from committing serious crimes. Among the underage members of the criminal gang are 6 Greek citizens, one Syrian and two Albanians: two 16-year-old twins, two 15-year-olds, three 14-year-old teenagers and one 13-year-old. Another is being sought.
