In Greece, Russian TV channels stopped working, which were received through satellite “dishes”, both those that fell under EU sanctions and those not included in this list.
Formerly European Council approved the sixth package of sanctions against Russia, under which EU suspended the broadcasting of three Russian state channels on its territory: Rossiya RTR / RTR Planeta, Rossiya 24 and TV Center International. They are accused of manipulating information about events in Ukraine.
At the same time, European regulators and the media are strengthening support for Ukraine in the information space: the number of countries in which radio and television programs are broadcast in Ukrainian is constantly increasing.
Greece was one of the first countries to ban access to Russian state media online by blocking it online. It is noteworthy that on the splash screen, which is now seen by those wishing to get on Russian sites, it says – “forbidden for copyright infringement.” What does the political ban have to do with copyright, the Greek regulator did not explain.
However, the Greek regulator has recently unblocked most of the Russian media, but it is still impossible to watch Russian television in the usual way. But all prohibitions have their tricks. In particular, through sites like classmates and some others, while you can watch most Russian TV channels online.
