The ex-president of Ukraine was not allowed to leave the country

Former president and leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, tried to leave Ukraine, but border guards did not let him through.

Now he is at the Rava-Russkaya checkpoint of the Lviv customs, after trying to leave Ukraine for Poland in his personal Range Rover car. European Solidarity reported that Poroshenko was going to take part in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and in the Congress of the European People’s Party, writes “Country”.

Formally, the ex-president has the right to travel abroad as a deputy, having previously received the consent of the leadership of the Rada. According to the criminal case initiated against him, the measure of restraint was recently mitigated by lifting the ban on leaving Ukraine and returning his passports.

People’s Deputy Petro Poroshenko, as reported “UP”, late in the evening of May 27, was at the state border crossing point in the Lviv region. People’s Deputy Irina Gerashchenko said that the border guards denied Poroshenko the right to travel abroad, referring to the allegedly available order. Eurosolidarity claims that they have a document on Poroshenko’s business trip signed by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk. A statement on the website of the European Solidarity party states:

“On May 29-30, 2022, the leader of the European Solidarity party, the fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, as part of the parliamentary delegation of Ukraine, will take part in the annual meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. On May 31 – June 1, 2022, Petro Poroshenko will take part in the Congress People’s Party (EPP), one of the largest political families within the European Union”.

Commenting on the refusal of the border service to allow Poroshenko to leave Ukraine, Gerashchenko says that this indicates the presence of “black lists” in power, since the composition of the delegation to participate in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly was approved in advance, and the rest of the delegates were allowed to leave by the border guards.

Earlier, our publication said that People’s Deputy of Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk, arrested on suspicion of high treason and assistance to terrorism, actively cooperates with the SBU and testifies. He spoke about the scheme for withdrawing from state ownership a part of the Samara-Western Direction oil product pipeline in order to further pump diesel fuel through it, detailing the role of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in it, and about the purchase of coal from the “LNR/DNR” in 2014-2015.
