Medvedev on the ceasefire and its conditions

Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev said that the terms of the truce put forward by the President of Ukraine Zelensky are categorical to the point of idiocy and are impossible to fulfill.

In his Telegram channel, he wrote:

“The conditions that Zelensky puts forward for a truce are categorical to the point of idiocy and impossible in principle. Ultimatums sound beautiful only on paper. Yes, and they are usually set from a position of strength, not obvious weakness. At the moment of victory, not defeat. a sober head, and not under psychotropic drugs.

Medvedev noted, writes RIA Newsthat Zelensky demands to make Donbass and Crimea Ukrainian again, “as if he does not know the will of their inhabitants,” and to withdraw all troops from Donbass, “leaving the Ukrainian army full scope for repressions against people.” According to the deputy chairman of the Security Council, “foreseeing his inevitable defeat, the President of Ukraine Zelensky found a convenient way out of the impasse: no country – no problem”:

“His actions and statements prove that now he is ready to put almost everything on the altar of his political ambitions. People, cities, the economy are the main things that his state still has. nationalism, militarism and rabid enmity towards everyone “who does not jump.”

In his posts in Telegram, he, as is already becoming habitual, does not choose expressions too much. AT comments on arrest People’s Deputy from the Opposition Platform for Life Viktor Medvedchuk, he said: “These figures should carefully look around and firmly lock the doors at night, so as not to be among the people being exchanged.” And in response to the desire of Finland and Sweden to join NATO, Medvedev moved to hidden threats:

“Sweden and Finland are discussing the possibility of joining NATO with bestial seriousness. The alliance itself is ready to accept them literally “under white hands.” <...> What does this mean? This means that Russia will have more officially registered opponents. NATO – thirty or thirty-two, for us as a whole is not so important. Two less, two more – there is not much difference with their significance and population. Another thing is that if Sweden and Finland join NATO, the length of the land borders of the alliance with the Russian Federation “will more than double. Naturally, these borders will have to be strengthened. Seriously strengthen the grouping of ground forces and air defense, deploy significant naval forces in the Gulf of Finland. In this case, there will be no question of any non-nuclear status of the Baltic Sea.”
