Trucks from the European Union will not be allowed to enter Russia

Only reloading or rehooking will be allowed in the Russian Federation for trucks from the countries of the European Union. Entry for them to Russia will soon be closed.

BB.LV reports that the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade supports entry restrictions for European cargo carriers according to the Belarusian scenario. According to Denis Manturov, the head of the ministry, only transfers will be allowed.

In accordance with fifth round of sanctionssince April 8, access to the territory has been terminated EU freight transport registered in the Russian Federation and Belarus, the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation said. The report notes that now vehicles of international transportation with Russian and Belarusian registration plates will not be able to move goods across the territory of the EU countries. While the restrictions do not apply to transportation:

  • agricultural, including wheat, and food products;
  • medical and pharmaceutical products;
  • fertilizers, non-ferrous metals, energy carriers;
  • humanitarian cargo.

Transit to Kaliningrad was not prohibited. Belarus, in response, banned the entry of cars and tractors registered in the EU into its territory, except for special checkpoints where cargo is either reloaded or a trailer with goods is transferred to another tractor.

In April, the trucking association Gruzavtotrans approached Mikhail Mishustin, Russia’s prime minister, with a proposal to retaliate by restricting the movement of heavy trucks from EU countries across Russia.

“You know, if this is done, as, for example, with our Belarusian colleagues – when the tractor can deliver the truck directly to the destination by transfer, then here, I think, there will be no big logistical problem,” Manturov said, answering a question. on the position of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on retaliatory measures to the ban on entry of Russian carriers into the EU countries.
