From June 1st, a recycling fee of 0.08 euros will be included in the price of plastic bottles, excluding VAT. This means that from the first day of summer, prices for a simple bottle of water are expected to rise.
The recycling fee (environmental tax) is introduced from June 1, 2022 for products whose packaging contains polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Plastic bottles are charged to consumers per unit.
In short, from next week we will be buying bottles of water from kiosks, which have risen in price by 10 euro cents (apparently 0.08 euros have been rounded up to 0.10) after the introduction of a recycling fee, writes dikaiologitika.gr.
It is especially emphasized that the amount of the fee must be clearly and legibly indicated in the invoices and recorded in the accounting records that companies selling these products are required to maintain.
In addition, entrepreneurs are required to indicate in places where products are sold in a place visible to the consumer that the packaging is paid, indicating the amount of added value.
The income from the collection of the tax is governmental, goes to AADE and belongs to the Hellenic Recycling Organization (EOAN), solely to finance the recycling process.
