Two internationally wanted drug traffickers arrested in Thessaloniki

In the course of a thorough investigation and extensive operational activities carried out in Thessaloniki, two people were arrested and an international arrest warrant was issued.

They are two 30-year-old men who are being prosecuted by Swedish and German authorities for drug trafficking.

Thus the officers ΕΛ.ΑΣrepresentatives of the ENFAST network, in close cooperation with their Swedish counterparts and SIRENE, yesterday, May 20 at noon, in the center of Thessaloniki, arrested the wanted men.

The arrest took place on the basis of a European arrest warrant issued by the Swedish authorities. It concerns drug trafficking and participation in a criminal group that smuggled drugs into Sweden (on at least one occasion in 2021, when 20 kg of Indian cannabis was sold). During a search of the detainee, the remains of a cannabis cigarette, two homemade nylon packs with processed cannabis in the form of tiles, as well as a laptop, a mobile phone and an IPTV decoder were found and seized from the detainee.

In addition, using information provided by the German police authorities (through the national bureau SIRENE), a 30-year-old citizen was found and arrested at the international state airport of Thessaloniki “MACEDONIA”, in respect of which a European arrest warrant was issued (for drug trafficking).

In particular, the man, acting within the framework of a criminal organization, incited two citizens “to cooperate.” Thus, he paid them the amount of money for which the aforementioned bought and transported 4.5 kg of marijuana, 1 kg of ecstasy tablets, one hundred and fifty grams of cocaine.

The drugs were seized by local customs authorities. Those arrested will be taken to the prosecutor’s office.
