Military exchange "Azov" want to ban

The State Duma of Russia intends to ban the exchange of the military “Azov” for captured Russians, calling the “Azov” Nazi criminals.

“These are war criminals and we must do everything to bring them to justice.”

Volodin instructed the Duma Defense Committee to prepare a draft of the relevant resolution, writes “The country”.

The Kremlin commented on the surrender of Ukrainian militants from Azovstal, the newspaper reports. “News”. As his official representative Dmitry Peskov said today, the topic of the surrender of Ukrainian militants and the military who were at Azovstal was repeatedly raised in many telephone conversations of Russian President Vladimir Putin and in the course of personal contacts.

Each time, the explanation, according to him, was absolutely understandable, since the head of state publicly gave the order to refrain from storming the plant, based on humanitarian considerations. Announcements were also made for the exit of both civilians and military. The latter were asked to leave, laying down their weapons. Regarding the situation at the plant, Peskov forwarded the question to the Ministry of Defense:

“I do not have detailed information about what is happening there. Still, you need to ask our military.”

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, said that on the evening of May 16, the surrender of militants blocked at the plant began. Among them, according to him, 51 were seriously wounded.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the removal of part of the military from the Azovstal plant. He expressed the hope of Kyiv for the return of the military to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.

On Monday, May 16, 264 Ukrainian soldiers were evacuated from the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol. About it informed Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar.
