They threw 60,000 euros off the balcony to “save” their children

Two cases of deception of the elderly took place on Wednesday afternoon in Patras, when fraudsters swindled out an amount of almost 60,000 euros. The victims were two women aged 84 and 67.

In both cases, according to pelop.gr, phone scammers called unsuspecting women and told them that their children, after being injured in a car accident, needed urgent surgery. According to the Patras police report, unidentified persons told the women that a large amount of money was required for an immediate operation.

The unsuspecting victims collected all the money they had in their house and threw it… from the balcony of their apartment in the bags into which they put the banknotes at the suggestion of the criminals… The fraud was revealed when they contacted their children.

Two incidents took place in the center of Patras, one on Maizonos street and the second on Kanakari street. It is possible that in both cases we are talking about the same criminal group.
