A domestic servant in Chania withdrew all the money from the old man’s account when he died.
According to cretapost.gr, a 47-year-old woman from Bulgaria worked as a nurse for an old man, a resident of the Kissamos district in Chania (Crete). On April 19, an elderly man died, after which the housekeeper, taking advantage of the opportunity, stole his debit card, went to an ATM and found that there was an amount of 1030 euros in the account.
The same information says that the woman tried to withdraw the entire amount, but found that there was a withdrawal limit. So she did not hesitate, the very next day (which was also the day of the unfortunate old man’s funeral), went to the ATM again and withdrew the remaining amount.
Fortunately, the daughter of an elderly man immediately noticed the actions of the grinder and reported to the police. Authorities came to the thief’s home and found 1,030 euros, as well as the elderly man’s debit card.
A case has been opened against her, and now the woman will stand trial.
