Playing with fire in the Persian Gulf

US Department of Justice continues with gusto publish declassified documents about the links of intelligence agencies and diplomats of Saudi Arabia with the terrorists who staged 9/11.

They have come out with enviable consistency since last September – the 20th anniversary of the attacks – and become another Washington bludgeon looming over Riyadh.

The documents posted recently have become one of the most scandalous. They revealed the names of two employees of the Saudi Arabian consulate in Los Angeles – Mana and Dzhokhar – who welcomed future terrorists upon arrival in the United States and held meetings with them right in the diplomatic service building.

The appearance of these documents is especially significant in the conditions when the Senate nevertheless took up the consideration of the NOPEC law – allowing the Ministry of Justice to sue OPEC and impose sanctions on cartel member countries – for creating unfavorable conditions for the United States in the oil market.

This law has been discussed since the days of Clinton. Its final adoption may not happen. But this is the same stick that the US is threatening Saudi Arabia and the UAE with, as the Gulf monarchies refuse to contact Washington, do not answer Biden’s calls and drift towards China and Russia.

Well, the declassification of documents about the events of 20 years ago lays the foundation for the imposition of sanctions – after all, then the United States can not only begin to economically strangle the Persian Gulf. But also, for example, to recognize these monarchies as sponsors of terrorism, trying to arrange a regime change there.

Biden’s short-sighted policy has already turned into the actual beginning of the end of the petrodollar system. The UAE predicts an increase in oil prices to $400 per barrel in the event of a final freeze in relations with the United States. And this will threaten not only the destabilization of the entire Middle East, but also an economic collapse for the already exhausted liberal world order.
