Russian frigate Admiral Makarov catches fire after being hit by Neptunes

The frigate Admiral Makarov, located in the area of ​​​​Snake Island, the second most powerful after the “Moscow”, was hit by Ukrainian missiles Neptune, media reported.

The ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet was hit, apparently, yesterday, but the information in the Ukrainian media appeared only today. It has not yet been officially confirmed, however, in the daily summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the number of enemy ships or boats (without specification) destroyed has increased by one. It is reported that the vessel fired on Ukrainian territory with Kalibr missiles.

The fact that a Russian frigate of the Burevestnik type is burning near Snake Island was first reported by a local publication in the Odessa region Dumskayahowever, without indicating specific sources:

Russian military planes are flying in the area of ​​the incident, and rescue boats have departed from Crimea to help the burning ship. The fire on the ship was confirmed by satellite photos published by the publication. Later, information appeared there with reference to “unofficial Russian sources:

“Trouble has overtaken the newest missile frigate Admiral Makarov. The ship is badly damaged, but remains afloat. For now.”

According to People’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleksiy Goncharenko, the Admiral Makarov ship was hit by Ukrainian missiles Neptune:

Frigates of type 11356 Burevestnik are considered the most modern warships in the Black Sea Fleet of Russia. In total, there are three of them in the Russian Federation, and all of them are in the Black Sea Fleet. Each frigate can carry up to eight Caliber cruise missiles.

On May 6, the American Forbes wrote that Admiral Makarov is perhaps the most valuable target for the Ukrainian missile forces and artillery today, adding: “There is evidence that the captain of Admiral Makarov made every effort to prevent him from reaching the Ukrainian coast.”
