On Victory Day, the Immortal Regiment action will be held face-to-face in 88 countries, for the first time in Venezuela, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
Aleksey Zaitsev, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, spoke about the preparation of the event at a briefing on Friday:
The “Immortal Regiment” continues to unite the diaspora and remains a symbol of the memory of those who gave their lives in the fight against Nazism. According to our information, in 88 states the action is being prepared in person. The Immortal Regiment” will be held in Venezuela for the first time this year, processions are expected in Argentina, Belarus, Bulgaria, Jordan, Spain, Kyrgyzstan, Nicaragua, Serbia and other countries.”
According to him, the organizers will pay special attention to ensuring security, in view of possible provocations. In total, representatives of almost 130 countries plan to take part in the events dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the victory over Nazism. The organizers are Russian compatriots, clarifies the words of Zaitsev TASS:
“Projects such as St. George’s Ribbon, Candle of Memory, Victory Windows, wreath-laying ceremonies at memorials to Soviet soldiers, car races, lessons of courage, photo exhibitions, film screenings are planned.”
