Alimos: a bus with passengers crashed into a pole (video)

This morning in the Athenian suburb of Alimos, a bus with passengers lost control and crashed into a pole near the tram tracks.

The vehicle was badly damaged and work is underway to free it. The driver claims that the brakes failed on the bus. He veered off course, hit a curb and then came to a stop after hitting a pole.

Several passengers and the driver received minor injuries. According to Newsbeast, an eyewitness to the incident claims to have heard what looked like an explosion and saw smoke. Police, ambulances and the fire brigade are at the scene.
