The United States plans to simplify the issuance of visas to Russian highly qualified specialists as much as possible.
According to Bloomberg, referring to its own sources, the issuance of visas to specialists wishing to move to the United States will be simplified. For example, it will not be necessary to have an agreement with the employer in advance when applying for a work visa. True, the new rules will not affect everyone, but only Russians who have a master’s or doctoral degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics obtained in the United States or other countries.
Bloomberg claims the Biden administration wants to make it easier for Russians with experience in cybersecurity, nuclear engineering, semiconductors, rocket propulsion technology, space technology, advanced computing and manufacturing, artificial intelligence and other specialized scientific fields to move to the country.
According to a spokesman for the US National Security Council (the agency did not name him), proposal sent weakening Vladimir Putin’s high-tech resources in the short term and undermining Russia’s innovation base in the long term. In addition, simplifying the entry of Russian specialists into the United States, according to him, will undoubtedly benefit the economy and national security of the United States.
In March of this year, Sergey Plugotarenko, head of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications, said that at this point, since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, 50-70 thousand IT specialists have already left the Russian Federation. In April, about 70-100 thousand more were supposed to leave it.
In April to Russian IT-specialists the Russian prime minister Mikhail Mishustin, quoting Interfax, calling for work in his native country:
“Guys, developers, programmers, IT people, let’s make our own ecosystem. We have everything for this. There are elements of this ecosystem that need to be improved. You need to make your own online store, because the AppStore and Google Play today we can almost soon not give you the opportunity to download applications. We can do it all.”
