Russian TV presenter called the war in Ukraine "tragedy"

The permanent host of the popular television game “One Hundred to One” Alexander Gurevich spoke out against the war in Ukraine, calling it a “tragedy”.

According to medialeaks, Gurevich’s comment appeared under the March 5, 2022 issue on YouTube. He apologized to the audience for the fact that the Russia-1 TV channel, even after the invasion of Ukraine, broadcasts new episodes of the entertainment show. According to him, they were removed before February 24:

“I consider it completely impossible for myself to have fun and joke against the backdrop of a huge tragedy, without noticing what is happening. I think that among the guests of our program, the participants in the games there are those who would feel differently today, and perhaps would refuse to participate in our entertainment program” .

The presenter spoke about relatives from Odessa:

“Our family also has Ukrainian roots. My mother-in-law was born in Odessa, lived in Kharkov for a long time. On Rymarskaya. And her grandmother is nearby, on Sumy … Mother-in-law has not been with us for 2 years. How would she listen to today’s information? Explosions shells, human casualties, people leaving their homes and running away from shelling … I apologize to everyone for whom the fun of our program, like me, seems absolutely inappropriate these days.”

Russian journalists found out that after the anti-war calls, Gurevich resigned from Russia-1. Due to the support of it by Runet users from the official channel “100 to 1”, the editors had to remove all videos. In the comments under the post, part of the audience left touching messages to the presenter – the audience said that they had been watching “One Hundred to One” from the “last century”, and thanked the showman for his civil position.
