Neos Kosmos celebrates Easter with Molotov cocktails

This year, Easter Sunday in the capital’s Neos Kozmos district was again celebrated with Molotov cocktails and firecrackers.

Residents of the metropolitan area have been celebrating Easter in a very dangerous way in recent years. In addition to launching firecrackers and fireworks, hooligans throw Molotov cocktails. A flurry of Molotov cocktails seems to have already become a “tradition”. The fiery performance takes place from year to year at the Temple of the Ascension (Neos Kozmos), where parishioners gather to meet the “Ascension of the Lord”.

As soon as the words “Christ is Risen” were heard and the bells began to ring, the atmosphere was lit up not only by the usual fireworks, but also by the explosions of Molotov cocktails.

The street outside the church looked like a “war zone” as bottles of Molotov cocktails exploded and burned, emitting black, stinking smoke. A fire brigade was on duty near the temple in order to prevent the fire of property and cars parked on the streets.

Onlookers managed to capture the reigning chaos on mobile phones – Easter traditions that never cease to be dangerous, writes protothema.gr.
