Fifteen-year-old Nikos died from a shot in the head in Evosmos, a fatal shot was made by his friend, the same age.
In the northern suburb of Thessaloniki, Evosmos, an irreparable tragedy has occurred – an unintentional gunshot to the head caused the death of one of his teenage friends on Good Friday. Severely injured Nikos was taken to the AHEPA hospital, but within an hour and a half, the doctors failed to save his life.
It all happened yesterday, shortly after noon. Teenagers, who were friends from early childhood, in the house of one of them, at 53 Akrita Street, examined the weapons of his father, who was fond of hunting, says protothema.gr. A woman neighbor who was previously the nanny of the shot boy says:
“We saw how the ambulance took the child, and immediately realized that something bad had happened. We knew the kids and they were best friends. The father of the child most likely had a weapon at home, as he went hunting, but he never had it in the house in a conspicuous place, let alone give it to the child.
Shocked neighbors say:
“The parents were at work at that time, and the children were at home alone. We know that 15-year-old Nikos was shot in the head. Another child initially said that it was an accident and that his friend, who ended up unconscious, hit his head on the corner of the table. Probably because he was scared.”
According to the publication, the wounded man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Doctors fought for his life for an hour and a half, but to no avail. Initially, the doctors did not even know about the gunshot wound. The message from the Thessaloniki Police Headquarters states:
“Today at noon (04/22/2022), a 15-year-old local resident was mortally wounded by a shot from a gun in a house in the Evosmos area. His age-mate and 56-year-old father were detained in the case, two guns were confiscated. The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Crime Against Life Department of the Thessaloniki Security Directorate, and a team from the Criminological Investigation Sub-Directorate of Northern Greece has left for the scene.”
