The reason for the war between Russia and Ukraine became known

Today, the Russian president announced the reason for the war in Ukraine: it is military assistance to “our people” living in the Donbass. According to Putin, the “tragedy” in the Donbas forced Russia to start a war against Ukraine:

“It was the ‘tragedy’ that took place in the Donbass, including in the Lugansk People’s Republic, that forced, simply forced Russia to launch this military operation, which everyone is well aware of today.”

The President of Russia believes that in eight years, starting from 2014, the situation in Donbas has changed for the worse, as “bombing, artillery strikes, and fighting continued” there.

According to Putin, Russia will act consistently and ensure that “life in the Donbas returns to normal.” He expressed confidence that Russia would bring peace to the Donbass. Answering a question from Luhansk girl Diana Krasovskaya, who moved to Sevastopol in 2014, he said he quotes RIA News:

“We will act consistently and achieve – life in the Donbass will return to normal. And it will not be concerned, just like … in your life in Sevastopol.”

A day earlier, Sergei Lavrov, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, gave his interpretation of the cause of the war:

“The reason for the Russian “special operation” in Ukraine is the complacency of the Western countries after the end of World War II. Moscow is not going to change the regime in Ukraine. Ukrainians themselves must decide how to live on.”

Lavrov also claims, as he writes “Correspondent”that the West took advantage of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky against Russia to ignore the Minsk agreements. According to him, “it is impossible to seriously discuss Zelensky’s statements, he is constantly changing his point of view.”
