Greece: “virtuoso” masterfully opened cars in seconds

The police caught a 51-year-old Algerian who broke into cars in the northern suburbs of Athens: from Ampelokipi to Marusi and Kifissia.

He was detained on Wednesday, April 13, by law enforcement officers of the Marousi Police Department, who managed to identify him using CCTV cameras.

According to the ERT channel, the man “opened” cars with a special remote control and took away what their owners had left in the trunk and cabin.

The video footage shows the actions of the Algerian. The thief approaches a parked car and, making sure no one is watching him, opens the trunk with his “special tool” and takes the backpack. After that, he leaves the scene without hindrance.

According to police, the car belongs to the surgeon, and the backpack contained a pair of special glasses with tiny lenses worth more than 5,000 euros. carandmotor.gr.

The criminal’s illegal actions have been established in at least 9 such cases, while he has been known to the authorities since 2013 (the attacker traded in burglaries in houses).
