According to official data, Greece recorded an increase in the number of visitors to the country’s museums in 2021 by 86% compared to 2020.
At the same time, there was an increase in the number of visitors of free admission by 52.9% and checks by 156.6%, taking into account the suspension of museums from March 14, 2020 to June 16, 2020 and gradually from November 1, 2020 to May 13, 2021 . According to ΕΛΣΤΑΤthe number of visitors to archaeological sites last year increased by 98.7%, the number of visitors with free admission – by 49.6%, and revenue – by 158.9%, taking into account suspension of work of cultural heritage sites on the above dates as part of the implementation of the measures taken to combat the pandemic.
