Press Secretary of Vladimir Zelensky Sergey Nikiforov took advantage of performance of the fighters of the Azov regiment in the Greek Parliament and tried to “wash” the Ukrainian neo-Nazis even more.
Sergey Nikiforov characteristically expressed himself about the Azov regiment, saying that it was no longer a neo-Nazi organization, as the Greeks see it, but a normal unit!
“We have Mariupol with a very large Greek diaspora, right? The goal was to show the Greeks that citizens of Greek origin are fighting for the freedom of Ukraine. The Azov Regiment, I understand, may seem extremely right for some, but this is no longer the case. This is a regular unit that was integrated into the National Guard of Ukraine. I understand, perhaps, the reaction of some Greek politicians, but they had such a reaction because they do not know the context.”
Nikiforov then expressed Zelensky’s request for help from Greece: to send Soviet-made weapons. “…But I know that Greece has some kind of weapon on which the Ukrainian army is trained, weapons of Soviet production. And our army would not need additional time and training to use it. They could take it and fight…”
