Vladimir Putin: We had no other choice

Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that a clash with anti-Russian forces in Ukraine was inevitable.

He noted that the Russian armed forces, in the course of a special military operation, act courageously, competently, efficiently and effectively, use the most modern types of weapons, reports TASS President’s words during today’s communication with employees of the domestic space industry at the Vostochny Cosmodrome:

“They began to turn Ukraine into an anti-Russian foothold, they began to grow the sprouts of nationalism and neo-Nazism that had been there for a long time. They specially grew the growth of neo-Nazism, and Russia’s clash with these forces was inevitable, they only chose the time to attack. This is an obvious fact. Neo-Nazism, unfortunately, has become a fact of life in a fairly large country close to us. This is an obvious thing: it was inevitable, the only question was time.”

He also noted that the Russian Federation helps the people of Donbass, and on the other hand, “takes measures to ensure the security of Russia itself”:

“Obviously, we had no other choice, that’s right. And the fact that the goals [спецоперации] will be achieved, there is no doubt. The goals are absolutely clear, they are noble. The main goal is to help the people in Donbass, the people of Donbass, which we recognized, were forced to do this because the Kiev authorities, pushed by the West, refused to comply with the Minsk agreements aimed at a peaceful solution to the problems of Donbass.”

Congratulating all Russians on Cosmonautics Day, the head of state noted that he would like to address the warmest words to the servicemen of the units of the Russian aerospace forces:

“Today, our officers are participating in a special military operation in the Donbass, in Ukraine. They are providing assistance to the people’s republics of Donbass. They are acting courageously, competently, efficiently and effectively, using the most modern types of weapons with unique, unparalleled characteristics.”
